On July 17th 2026, Dignity Sports Health Complex held the first match between the Los Angeles rivals which ended in favor of the traveling squad. LAFC fans were secured in a small corner of the stadium but made their voices heard when their team ultimately took the 3-0 lead. It was a well contested match for the Galaxy but they could not find any responses to the strong attacks from players like Son Heung-min and Denis Bounga who found the back of the net that night.
Mark Delgado opened the scoring against his former club in the first half before Denis Bouanga doubled the lead from the penalty spot after halftime. South Korea's Son Heung-min capped off the win by scoring his first goal for LAFC of the season, sealing an impressive performance by the opposing team. Although the Galaxy controlled stretches of possession, LAFC remained organized defensively, limiting scoring opportunities, and capitalized on their chances to secure a clean-sheet victory and an important three points. It was apparent that the Galaxy needed that DP spot that was recently opened up with the selling of the main forward, Gabriel Pec.
LAFC return back to BMO on Wednesday night as they face off against Real Salt Lake while the Los Angeles Galaxy look to shape things up with their match against St. Louis.
The MLS season is back with some big matches ahead as well as tournaments to look forward to such as the 2026 Leagues Cup. As always, follow along closely with Play by PIxel Sports.
