Shootouts give LAFC the slight edge in Leagues Cup standings

LAFC battled to a 1-1 draw against Querétaro at BMO Stadium before earning the extra point with a 5-3 penalty shootout victory. Querétaro struck first in the 12th minute through Alí Ávila, but Denis Bouanga equalized in the 57th minute with a close-range finish. LAFC continued to push for a winner but couldn't break through Querétaro goalkeeper Guillermo Allison, sending the match to penalties. After Querétaro's Daniel Parra hit the crossbar, Ryan Porteous converted the decisive penalty to give LAFC the shootout win and keep its Leagues Cup knockout-stage hopes alive.
