Game 150 for Timothy Tillman. He made it count.
LAFC ground out a 1–0 win over the Seattle Sounders on Sunday night at BMO Stadium, with Tillman's 86th minute strike — his first league goal in over two years — sending the Black & Gold into the World Cup break on a high note and snapping a three-game MLS losing streak in the process.
The first half belonged to LAFC on paper. Twelve shot attempts to Seattle's four told the story of a side that controlled large stretches but couldn't find the final touch. Son Heung-Min came closest early, forcing Andy Thomas into a save in the 7th minute, while Denis Bouanga had chances of his own that came to nothing. Seattle were stubborn, organized, and dangerous on the break — Jordan Morris testing Thomas Hasal in the 30th minute with the Sounders' sharpest moment of the half.
The second half was a chess match. Both sides pushed, both sides defended. Hasal came up big again denying Morris in the 46th, and later kept out a Cristian Roldan effort from outside the box. Seattle's substitutions nearly changed the game — Danny Musovski rattled the crossbar in the 76th minute and had BMO holding its collective breath.
Then came Tyler Boyd. On for just seven minutes when he whipped in the cross that Tillman tucked home at the back post in the 86th — Boyd's first assist in LAFC colors, Tillman's first league goal since April 2024. The place went wild.
Seattle pushed hard in stoppage time but Hasal and the backline had the answer every time. Five saves on the night earned Hasal his first MLS clean sheet of the season — LAFC's ninth shutout in 15 league games, more than any other team in the league.
The milestones stacked up quietly in the background too. Mark Delgado played every minute of his 357th career MLS regular season appearance, moving into a tie for 25th in league history. Ryan Hollingshead made start number 249, one away from a milestone of his own.
Three points. A winning note heading into seven weeks off.
LAFC return from the World Cup break on Friday, July 17, traveling to Carson for the LA Derby against the Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park. Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. PT.
